Christian Responsibility Part One

Our Responsibility towards Society What are our responsibilities toward our nations God had given to us all? hy did God create us? hat can you do to make the society a better place to live? As a Christian, what are my responsibilities? Responsibility means, a state of responsibility, the opportunity or ability to act independently and take a decision without authorisation. It also means a thing which one is required to do as part of a job, role or legal obligation. Responsibility means having control over or care of someone, being the primary cause of something and so able to take blame or take credit for the action taken. It also can mean, morally accountable for one’s behaviours. From above definitions, one can see our moral obligation toward the society our God has given unto us. Genesis 1:27 tell us that God created man in His image. In verse 28, He said be fruitful and multiply, replenish the earth and subdue it [subdue mean, to overcome and to bring under control] and have dominion over all living thing that move upon the earth. Verse 31 tells us that everything He created is good. How can we then blame God for our society problem, remember, He send His only begotten Son to redeem us, He also die for us so that society can be a better place to live in [John 3:16]. God had given us control over the earth, He also gave us just commandments to follow, and He also revealed the secret of the earth and Heaven to us through our Lord Jesus Christ so that everything can be well with us. [Wherein He hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known unto us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure which He hath purposed in Himself Ephesians 1:8-9. Are you carrying out your obligation? If God in His kindness had made you the head of a home, society, work or an organisation, are you carrying out your moral duties? God had given us control over the earth, He also gave us just commandments to follow, and He also revealed the secret of the earth and Heaven to us through our Lord Jesus Christ so that everything can be well with us. We should not just sit and wait for God to come down, He has done that, and His next coming is for judgement. God has given us the necessary weapon to fight Satan, that weapon is our Lord Jesus Christ which is love. Bible tells us; if you are a husband, you should be a good husband and God fearing husband [Ephesians 5:25-33]. Wife, submit yourselves to your husband [Ephesians 5: 22-24] Children, obey your parent [Ephesians 6:1-3]. Servant, be obedient to them that are your master according to the flesh [Ephesians 6:5-8]. Master, forbearing threatening [Ephesians 6:9]. We can also see Paul letter to people of Colossians [Colossians 3:18-25 and Colossians 4:1]. 1 Peter 2: 2-13 tell us how to obey the law of a nation and the people that govern such nation. Verse 18-21 and 1 Peter 3: 1-8. Also, tells us how to lives as a true Christian. Titus 3:1-9 tell us to be a true Christian. It said, put them in mind to subject power, to obey magistrates, ready to every good work. Speak no evil of no man, but gentle, showing meekness unto all men Our Lord Jesus Christ commanded us in Matthew 28:19-20, go ye therefore and teach all nations, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. If therefore you are being commanded to make the society a better place by our Lord Jesus Christ, time have now come for you and me to be renewed in the Spirit of mind and put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness [Ephesians 4:23-29]. Philippians 2:5 say, let this be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. Colossians 3:12-16 tell us, as an elect of God, put on, therefore, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness. Forbearing one another and forgiving one another, put on charity which is a bond of perfection. Let the peace of God rule in your hearts and let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom. Colossians 4:5-6 say, walk in wisdom toward them that are without. And let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Remember what Psalm 119:105 say, thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. This mean, let the world see Christ in you. A servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men [2 Timothy 2:24]

Doing Good

A good man/woman is a benevolent, kind, genuine, pleasing, worthy, considerable, virtuous, excellent person. A person that promotes happiness and success. As human beings, being good to one another is our primary objective on earth. God gave us a just and good commandment so that we can carry out His will, to love one another as we love ourselves. We sometimes fail to carry out this just law due to past experiences or through hatred or lack of understanding of the word of the Lord. What I mean by past experiences is that people can sometimes pay back evil with evil or not show appreciation. We sometimes stop helping or doing good to people/ or a person in need of help even though we are in a position to help. As Christians, we must help those in needs no matter what might have happened in the past. As Christians, if we do not help or stop helping those in need and you are in a position to give that help but instead start giving excuses of your past experience, you are committing a sin before almighty God. Any help you render to another person, whether the person remembers you or even pays you back with evil deed, God will surely pay you back as long you remain faithful. Stories of Joseph teach us the faithfulness of our Lord. The Bible narrated the stories of Joseph while he was in the prison regarding the dream the chief butler had after the interpretation of the chief butler dream by Joseph. Book of Genesis 40:14 say, ‘‘think of me when it shall be well with thee, and show kindness, I pray thee, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh’’, but in verse 23 of the same book it says, ‘‘yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgot him’’. How many of us as such have happened to? God had given us control over the earth, He also gave us just commandments to follow, and He also revealed the secret of the earth and Heaven to us through our Lord Jesus Christ so that everything can be well with us. Joseph did have his reward from God because he remained faithful unto the Lord. The same thing can happen to you, if you remain faithful unto Him and continue to be good no matter what situation you find yourselves. The way God does thing, no one knows and the Bible tells us in Genesis 41:1, that at the end of two full years Pharaoh had a dream, but God did it in a way that no one excepted Joseph could interpret the dream [Genesis 41:8]. Do not think God has forgotten all the good deeds you have done. When the time for your reward shall come, it will happen in a miraculous way as it happened to Joseph. The stories of Rahab the harlot is another one we should learn from, because of her kindness toward the two people Joshua sent to spy the land of Jericho, she found favour from God, not her alone, but the grace was extended to her family. Joshua 2:1 says, Rahab the harlot took in the two people, in verse 2&3 it says, the king of Jericho asked Rahab to produce the two men, instead of producing them she hid them by putting herself in danger. In verse 12 of Joshua 2, she said unto the two men, ‘now therefore, I pray you, since I have showed you kindness, that ye will also show kindness unto my father’s house.’ In verse 23, the two told Joshua of the event, and how Rahab saved them. The reward of her kindness came in Joshua 6:22-25; Rahab including all her family was saved from dead through her goodness and faithfulness. In the book of Matthew 5:7; our Lord Jesus said ‘‘blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Matthew 25 from verse 31 says, when the Son of man shall come in glory, all nations shall gather before Him, and He shall separate them one from another. And He shall set the sheep on His right, then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you. For when I was hunger, ye gave me meat, I was thirst, ye gave me water, I was a stranger, and you took me inn. Naked, you clothed me: I was sick, you visited me, I was in prison, and ye came unto me. In verse 40, He said “inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these brethren, ye have done in unto me.” We can see from our Lords teaching that when you give without expecting a reward from human beings, your reward shall surely come from Christ. Roman 12:13 says. Distributing to the necessity of saints, given to hospitality.

Righteousness

Praise and thanksgiving will flow when we recognize that the Lord, not we ourselves, will accomplish our victory and our deliverance.

Like Israelis, when we turned from the Lord, we faced oppression, impoverished, enslaved, and plundered by our enemies. When we turned back to Him, just like Israelis, we experienced deliverance, restoration, freedom, and victory. God calls us today to pursue Him and to walk in His ways, so that we can realize His purpose and blessing.

Trials and obstacles in our lives can require different responses, depending on their cause or purpose. If the cause is sin, we need to turn from sin and receive forgiveness. If purpose is to strengthen us and to instruct us in the way of spiritual warfare, we need to come closer to our Lord and be fervent in prayer believing God for deliverance, because our Lord is a faithful and gracious God that never fails.

True Repentance

If you return, O Israel, declares the Lord, then you should return to Me, and if you will put away all your detested thing from My presence, and will not waver, and you will not swear, as the Lord lives, in truth, in justice, and in righteousness, then the nation will bless themselves in Him, and in Him they will glory [Jeremiah 4: 1-2.] Wash your heart from evil, O Jerusalem, that you may be saved. How long will your wicked thoughts lodge within you? Jeremiah 4:14 Your ways and your deeds have brought these things unto you; this is your evil, because it is bitter, because it has reached unto your heart Jeremiah 4:18 For my people are foolish they know me not, they are stupid children, and they have no understanding. They shrewd to do evil, but to do good, they do not know. Jeremiah 4:22 I looked on the earth, and behold, it was formless and void, and to the heavens, and they have no light. I looked on the mountains, and behold, they were quaking, and all the hills moved to and fro. I looked, and behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens had fled. I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a wilderness, and all cities were pulled down before the Lord, before His fierce anger. Jeremiah 4: 23-26 [Gen. 1] Repentance The Red sea became a dry land for the people to walked pass. To many people, the Red sea that became a dry land is like a great miracle. But to God, He had already commanded water to give way to a dry land before the Red sea became a dry land. The book of Gen. 1:9 said, Then God said, ‘‘Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let dry land appear’’ and it was so and verse 10 said, And God called the dry land earth. Because of our un-believe/lack of faith in God, we human are so trouble when we are faced with a problem. It is about you knowing your God, the creator of heaven and earth, He is a powerful God. He made the moon for the seasons; the sun knows the place of its setting. Psalm 104:19. We human does not know our to and fro, and this has caused us so many problems. As the sun knows it setting place no matter where it goes, we should all have a direction.
